L 1 to L 1252 had peaked (gable roofs)
The later L's (L 1253 - L1432) had a curved roof as shown.

Now that SEM has released a supurb HO model of a gable roof L wagon I realised that I didn't have an end view of the wagon that the model is based on. So, to assist those with the kit, here is a pic, the neg. is very scratched but the pic should be helpful to modelers. |
Builders photo of L 601 which was constructed Oct 1907. The number board was later moved, also note the dual waybill clip. Each deck could have a different consignor. Whilst the vehicle was airbraked auto couplers would have to wait until 1932.
